Lerato Shadare is a South African singer, songwriter, vocal coach, choir director, vocal arranger, and theatre actress. As she puts it: «Music chose me.» Music has been an integral part of her life since a very young age. She comes from a very rich musical experience with strong influences from her own family, the church, and the deep musical roots of her country. Her professional career began at the age of 17 when she and her all-female band signed with David Gresham Record Label.
She later joined as a female member of a hip hop group called Kaydo of Gallo Records Label. In the next stage, she went on to sing for one of South Africa’s most successful gospel choirs, called Joyous Celebration, while simultaneously working as a studio singer and backing vocalist for Sony Music South Africa.
Her musical career expanded to Europe, where she appeared on theatrical stages for the German production of The Lion King and Kammer Oper Vienna. She then went on to perform in gospel theatrical tours and European tours. When she’s not singing, she fulfills her role as a mother to two lovely children. Lerato is happily married to the award-winning jazz producer and guitarist Agboola Shadare.
